These scholarships will be awarded to Lake County, Illinois high school seniors to recognize ability and achievement, and contribution to the community, who plan to pursue a career in education.

The LCRTA Scholarship Committee will select the winners for these scholarships.

The scholarships will be payable at the completion of the first semester of college.

 

 

Value :     $2000 Mary Abbott Scholarship

     $1500 LCRTA Scholarship

 

 

 

Eligibility and Procedure

 

 

• Applicants must attend a Lake County public high school.
• Applicants must fill in the Lake County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship Application Form.
• Applicants must supply two (2) letters of recommendation:
  • One from a high school faculty member;
  • One from an adult who is not a relative, but is familiar with the applicant’s participation in the community.
• Applicants must write an essay on “Why I want a career in education.”
• Applicants must submit a list of school and community activities.

• Applicants must provide a copy of their high school transcript.

• Applications must be received by the stated deadline stated below.
